Wadduwa Poson Perahera
Wadduwa Poson Maha Perahera organised by Sirimaha Mihndu Piriwena of
Samudrarama Viharasthanaya, Wadduwa will be held on June 26, 2009
(today) at 7.00 p.m.
It will be held under the patronage of Venerable Bopitiye Dhammissara
Thera and Construction and Engineering Services Minister Dr. Rajitha
Senaratne who is the President of the Poson Perahera Committee.
Ranaviru Upahara
A Ranaviru Upahara ceremony organised by the Gampola Wickremabahu
Madya Maha Vidyalaya will be held at the school auditorium on June 26
(today) at 8.30 a.m.
The program also includes the laying of foundation stones for a
Ranaviru monument in memory of departed war heroes of the school.
Special program for displaced children
A special program for displaced children organised by the
Examinations Department will be held on June 30 in Vavuniya.
These programs include distribution of model papers for the GCE
Ordinary Level and Advanced Level classes, acceptance of applications
for the exams from these students who had failed to apply for them in
time and distribution of educational aids and equipment.
Examination Department officials will participate.
Suseema Muhurath ceremony
The Muhurath ceremony of Suseema the maiden creation of Mohan
Weliwita produced by A. S. P. Liyanage from Janaka Ratnayake's cartoon
stories will be held at the Central Bank premises, Rajagiriya on June 26
(today) at 10.12 a.m.
The latest technology used in film production called Full HD will be
introduced at this occasion.
Rajakeeya Ranaviru Uththamachara
Royal College, Colombo will pay tribute to old Royalists who have
paid the supreme sacrifice in safeguarding the sovereignty and the
territorial integrity of the country and to honour and felicitate
Royalists who are in the active service of the Sri Lanka Defence Forces,
Police and the Civil Defence Force.
The program Rajakeeya Ranaviru Uththamachara will start at 7.30 a.m.
on July 1, 2009 at the Navarangahala and then proceed to the War
Memorial at Royal College.
Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga will be the Chief Guest.
Appointment letter to JPs
A new batch of 100 Justices of the Peace and Inquirers into Sudden
Deaths appointed by the Justice Ministry for the hill country plantation
sector will receive their appointment letters from Justice and Judicial
Reforms Deputy Minister V. Puthirasigamoney at a ceremony at the Sri
Manikka Pillaiyar New Cultural Hall, Hatton on June 28 at 10.30 a.m.
Awards ceremony
The inaugural awards ceremony of the Lyceum - MLGF Academy for Mass
Communication organised by the Lyceum International School in
collaboration with the Mohan Lal Grero Foundation will be held at the
Main Hall of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda on June 27 (Saturday)
at 9.15 a.m.

The third Annual General Meeting of the Institute of Environmental
Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) will be held at the Hector Kobbekaduwa
Agrarian Research and Training Institute, 114, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo
7, today (June 26).
Environment and Natural Resources Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka,
Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala
Sirisena, Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh
Gunawardena, and Western Provincial Council Agriculture, Industries and
Environment Minister Udaya P. Gammanpila will be the chief guests.
The ceremonial session will commence at 9 am.
Felicitation ceremony
The Sri Lanka Muslim Women’s Conference will felicitate Jezima Ismail,
Emeritus President of the Sri Lanka Muslim Women’s Conference and also
release a book about her on June 28, 2009 at 4.15 p.m. at the Ladies

Carey Prize Day
The prize giving of Carey College, Colombo 8, will be held on June 26
(today) at 4.00 p.m. Colombo University Chemistry Department Professor
K.M. Nalin de Silva will be the Chief Guest. Dr. Rohini M. de Silva,
Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry, University of Colombo will
give away the prizes.

A mobile service will be held at Sri Lanka Islamic Centre, No. 12,
Rajapokuna Road, Colombo 10 on June 27 from 8.00 a.m. It will be held
under the patronage of Parliamentary Affairs Minister M.H. Mohamed.
