NDB Group’s strategic investment arm, Capital Development
and Investment Company (CDIC), recently acquired the control
of Eagle NDB Fund Management Company. Aviva International
Holdings, will partner NDB Group with an indirect
shareholding of 49 percent through Aviva NDB Finance Lanka
Private Limited. Aviva is the world’s fifth largest
insurance group, with funds under management amounting to

The market ended yesterday with the ASPI and MPI losing 21 points to
end at 2,419 and 2,695 respectively on a turnover of Rs687million.
The broader ASPI was down 0.9 percent while the sensitive MPI was
down 0.8percent. Turnover was boosted by the Schaffter family
transferring nearly 30 percent in subsidiary Kotmale Holdings (LAMB) to
First Capital at Rs22 per share, an 80 percent premium to the last
traded price, for a consideration of Rs 206.8 million.
First Capital Holdings (CFVF) lost 75 cents to close at Rs 13.75,
while Kotmale Holdings closed at Rs 13.00. John Keells Holdings closed
at Rs 133.50, NDB down Rs 3 at Rs150, down a rupee, Aitken Spence & Co
closed unchanged at Rs 640.00 and Distilleries Company closed up 75
