Controlling spread of Swine Flu:
Mobitel extends support to Health Ministry
Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, lent a helping hand to the Ministry of
Healthcare in controlling the spread of Swine Flu. As an initial step,
Mobitel will sponsor the Health Declaration forms to be issued by the
Ministry to all in-bound tourists arriving at the Bandaranaike
International Airport.
The Health Declaration Form comes in the wake of the growing concern
over the A(H1N1) Virus causing Swine Flu. The Health Declaration Form,
issued by the Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry is to be filled out by
all passengers entering the country.

Deputy Director General Health Services (Public Health) Ministry of
Health Dr. Palitha Mahipala commended Mobitel's timely support towards
the Ministry of Health in initiating this vital screening process. "This
is especially a time when the Ministry of Health is burdened with major
public health issues such as the Dengue outbreak and the need to provide
special health teams and care to IDP camps in the North.
These services require major financial commitment. Therefore, Sri
Lanka Telecom Mobitel's assistance at this need of the hour is timely.
We hope we could further this partnership in the future," he said.

Provider, it is our duty to come forward in this time of need to address
this national concern and ensure all steps possible are taken to
safeguard the citizens of the country."

Amarasekara said, "This endeavour will be an effective first step in
ensuring the control of Swine Flu in Sri Lanka." "Mobitel together with
the Ministry of Health hope that all those entering the country will
co-operate and comply with this new regulation to prevent the spread of
this disease."
Mobitel plans to sponsor the Swine Flu awareness leaflet and also
initiate an awareness SMS to all Mobitel in-bound roamers. Swine Flu was
recently declared a pandemic or, a global epidemic by the World Health
Organization. Doctors have suggested washing hands thoroughly and
wearing a mask to prevent the contraction of the disease, which is air
borne and also transferred through human contact. |
