Shasheendra to contest Uva PC

Kataragama Basnayake Nilame Shasheendra Rajapaksa, will contest the forthcoming Uva Provincial Council elections.

Shasheendra, son of Minister Chamal Rajapaksa has several development plans for Kataragama and the Moneragala District. He hopes to focus on education, agriculture and road development.

"Education is the most important to develop a country. Public cooperation is vital for the development of a country. Politicians should be with the public always and not only during the election period. A free meal for all students in the area will be given," he said.

Improving business in the district is also very important. I have several important plans under the Maga Naguma to develop business activities in the district. After the completion of the Hambantota harbour there will be employment for area youth," Shasheendra said.

A Rs. 16 million project to set up a museum for Kataragama is also in the Kataragama development plan.

One of his main plans is also to cultivate more paddy fields in the Hambantota district to provide employment to people.

Uva-Wellassa will be a developed area," he said.
