A birth of a new Nation

Scourge of the civilized, were the agents of terror
The innocent and the blameless looked on with horror
The mighty and the meek were victims all
People wondered who's next to fall.

Urged on by the West, overtly and covertly,
Bolstered by arms brought in by diplomutts friendly
No checks on containers for a 'dissembled plane'
How dare the conspirators, the Government blame!

The enemies grew bolder and bolder by the day
Negotiate now or you will rue the day!
Many were killed and attacks were very irritating
Many wondered why the leader is hesitating.

Some farmers were deprived of water, their life blood
Paddies dried up showing only cacked mud
This was the limit the final straw
That compelled the President his sword to draw

The war began in all earnest
The farmers deserved a rich harvest
The enemy misjudged the new leadership
As peaceniks called for negotiation and good fellowship.

The Island nation on the verge of a major disaster
Urged by a leader whose word and deeds were a moral booster
Focused and determined giving the Armed Forces their due
Their leaders unfettered and undeterred took their cue.

The West reacted in a predictable manner
Allowed a banned group to hoist their banner
Whether for votes or cash one cannot be sure
When black means white who can be sure!

Hypocrites in the West have skeletons to hide
Despite which the high horse they ride
Unable to cast aside their pride and prejudice
Their words are full of venom and malice.

A war was fought and the enemy vanquished
Ownership of land and sea had to be relinquished
More civilians were killed by their own 'friendly fire'
Armies efforts did not raise civilian ire.

They came in their thousands away from their protectors
Will they do so if the Army were the inquisitors!
Keith Vaz, Bruce Fein, Kouchner and Milliband
Tried hard to prevent civilians abandoning the terrorist land.

When civilians left, weakening the protective shield
The West tried hard to make the government yield
When all attempts failed to save the terrorist outfit
The West suggested a surrender to a third party skit!

Sri Lankans expected the world to applaud and acclaim.
The unique victory and the right to reclaim
But instead of praise, eulogy and compliments
We were thrown brick bats and other implements!

People bore hardship and did not unduly criticize,
But let us face reality and not phantasize
Economic pressures are mounting and enormous tasks ahead
There is little time to rejoice as vultures are flying overhead.

A country without minorities ethnic or otherwise
To a single call they will answer and rise
Let's hope that peace and sanity always prevails
And this would be the end of our travails

Oh!
Blooming Rose
Shades colourful, fresh and live
Smooth and soft the petals around

Bright and brilliant the white is pure
Yellow gold bolds as Sun and Moon
Cheecks of a lass is rosy pink
Rose in red is a lifetime gift

A warm welcome the bouquet in hand
The symbol of love for young and old
Fragrance is deep scented afar
Prick in pain the dangerous thorns

A taste of paradise the honey inside
In and around bees, butterflies
Needs indeed for all occasions
Growth of a rose is a valued sentiment

Yal Devi is back on track
With coloured buntings
At the windows
Through the fog
With a wind of new mindset
Clattering at the windows
She is back again
Constantly hooting
Crating a new dawn
Leaving all painful memories
She is the pulse of the nation

The eyes of the world are upon us
Let this journey bring all the happiness to the nation
Sharing pongal, vadai and endless memories of the days gone
Let us share the old glory of wisdom
With the friends of the North
Throughout the journey

Welcome new Sri Lanka

A new Sri Lanka in everyway
No minorities, but all Sri Lankans was confirmed this day
Supporting this decision are the majority today
A few in the Minority but they must change someday.

Suffering for a period of thirty long years
At the hands of a ruthless Tyrant, keeping people in tears
Now is the time for all to get together
Like one family working hand in hand please endeavour.

Dawning of a new Sri Lanka a renaissance for us
To change paradigms the Colonizers instilled in us
To be proud of what we are and what we have
Unity is strength, so lets forge ahead.

Adhere to family values and live as kith and kin
Well demonstrated by our President and his family clan
Though criticized by some this "togetherness" did help
In bringing everyone together and maximizing their strengths.

The "bloody" era is closed, never to be opened again
The development era must continue, helping people help themselves
Treating all people with respect, and as Sri Lankans all
Let's confirm to the world that Sri Lanka is yet, the Pearl of the Indian Sea.

My Rose

I saw Rose,
A white rose.
Sometimes I wanted to boast
of owning that Rose.

I helped the Rose to smell as good as it could be,
but the Rose didn't see it was me.
It was me who admired it most,
something that I could never boast.

Oh..Then,
It was my Rose which I couldn't reach,
Thorns hurt me pricking my faith to bleed.
Now I feel more fragrances surrounding me
But now, for roses my heart is out of reach
