ILO workshop

A workshop on the rapid assessment of the impact of the global economic crisis on employment and industrial relations in Sri Lanka will be held on June 26 from 9.30 a.m. - 12.00 p.m. at the Galle Face Hotel.

The International Labour Organization commissioned the rapid assessment in February to look into the social (including employment) dimensions of the global economic crisis's impact on Sri Lanka.

The study specifically focused on the Macro-Economic Overview, Employment/Quality of Work/Underemployment Trends, Impact on SMEs and in the Informal Economy, Social Dialogue and Industrial Relations Government's Response, Inter-Agency Collaboration and some recommendations for action based on findings.

The workshop will elaborate on the key findings and conclusions from the study and engage a discussion on related issues.

Dr. Ramani Gunatilaka, Consultant and Steven Kapsos, Labour Economist, ILO Geneva will facilitate the proceedings of the workshop.
