Plaint filed against Sports Director

Members of Sri Lanka Karate Do Association have filed a plaint
against the Director of Sports of the Sports Development Department
before the Colombo District Court pleading to issue an order staying the
election scheduled to be held on June 25, to elect members for the
interim Committee of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Association.
Plaintiff filed the plaint stating that certain non qualified persons
posing as the members of the Karate Do Association have been allowed to
vote at the election to the detriment of the Karate sport in Sri Lanka.
The Plaintiff A.G. De Soyza with three others cited Sports Director
of the Sports Development Department B.D. Dahanayake and respectively
the Chairman and Secretary of the Interim Committee of Karate Do
Association H.M.B.C. Herath, S.G. Pathiranage and three other members as
defendants.
The plaintiffs, members of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Association stated
that the defendants have been appointed by the Sports Minister.
The plaintiff prayed before the Court to issue an enjoining order
restraining the election on June 25 and to declare that only the members
of the Sri Lanka Karate Do Association are entitled to vote at the
election.
They further prayed to declare that it was illegal for non qualified
members of the association to cast vote at the election. |
