Clash after party ends in death

Two youths were stabbed to death in a clash between two groups after a private party in Wellawatte on Sunday night, Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said "A dispute rose between revelers who had separated into two groups. One group had gone home and the other group went for a meal to a restaurant at 33rd Lane, Wellawatte around 7.00 pm," he added.

He said while group was having meal, the group which had gone home had came to the restaurant and an heated argument had taken place. One was stabbed to death on the spot and another was critically injured in the fight.

The latter had been admitted to the Kalubowila hospital ICU and succumbed to his injuries later in the morning", SSP Gunasekera added.

The victims were identified as K. Jenito Niroshan (24) and Mahendran Sasitharan. Both were residents of Wellawatte.
