Handugala to get first tea factory

The first-ever tea factory in the Hambantota district under the patronage of the Southern Development Authority will be inaugurated at Handugala in Walasmulla on June 27.

Basic infrastructure facilities for the factory have been completed at Rs. 12.5 million and another Rs. 45 million has been spent on the factory by the Yolta Tea Company.

This tea factory once commissioned, will have the capacity to produce 5,000 kilograms of tea per day.
