The Medical Research Institute (MRI) discovered another new AH1N1
(Swine Flu) case yesterday. She is a nine- year- old girl who arrived in
Sri Lanka on Sunday. She was initially detected by the Thermal Scanners
for high fever, MRI Virologist, Dr. Geethani Wickremesinghe told the
Daily News.
According to Dr.Wickremesinghe after being detected for high fever,
the girl was transferred to IDH where she was tested positive for AH1N1.
She had high fever and cough for about two days and also had a history
of contracting the virus from a school in Melbourne, Australia. Three
other samples were tested for AH1N1 but all were negative.
Meanwhile, a Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said the new
case will also be treated as previously identified AH1N1 cases had been
treated and the Bandaranaike International Airport has been informed to
follow rules and regulations strictly and obtain health information from
the passengers arriving at the airport. |
