CH face tough task against CR today
Ranjeeva SENEVIRATNE
Can CH and FC contain the high-riding CR and FC? The answer to this
question will be found only this evening when these two teams clash in
their Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby match at Maitland Crescent today.
The lads from Maitland Crescent have suffered three successive
defeats at the hands of Navy (12-18), Army (12-21) and Kandy (3-37) and
will have to come up with a much better display if they hope to give the
Red Shirts a run for their money today.
CH has been let down by their three quarters although their forwards
have given of their best. Their 'eight' especially Achala Perera,
Jayantha Ranaweera, Sathya Ranatunga, Dinesh Sanjeewa, Dilanka
Wijesekera and Shera Fernando should give another sterling display in
the loose and are capable of matching upto the power-packed CR forwards
Danushka Boteju, Anuja Perera, Ishan Noor, Danushka Perera, Dushanth
Lewke and Skipper Ashan Karthelis.
The Red Shirt with a superior back division will strive to make the
maximum use of the good b all which comes their way by setting their
three quarters in motion, In Zulki Hamid and Dev Anand they have a fine
halves combination while centres Chamara Vithanage and Niroshan
Kaurnanayake are hard runners who are capable of breaching the CH
defence but the biggest threat will be posed by winger Mohamed Jabber
with his powerful runs down the flank.
