Three suspected LTTEers killed

Three suspected LTTE cadres were killed by police in a shoot-out in Nelunkulam area, Vavuniya yesterday. A weapon resembling an AK-47 was recovered, police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said.

A police team from Vavuniya ambushed the suspected LTTE cadres' movement near Kalaimagal Vidyalaya in an abandoned land in Nelumkulam around 2.30 a.m.

"The suspects opened fire at the police team. Police successfully repulsed the attack and killed three," SSP Gunasekera told the Daily News.
