LTTE supporter arrested

An LTTE supporter was arrested on a tip-off by police in Chunnagam, Jaffna on Tuesday around 10 p.m., police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said. Following a search operation, a hand grenade was also found.

Chunnagam police is investigating.

Meanwhile, police unearthed arms hidden in a culvert in Poonthottam, Vavuniya on Tuesday evening.

Following information, Vavuniya police found a modernised pistol, two magazines, 18 of 9mm pistol, a satellite phone with a SIM card, a mobile phone charger, a compass, a global position system, a pair of shoe and a trouser hidden in a culvert in Maharambakulam area, Poonthottam around 6.15 p.m.
