Felicitating two generations of music

others to the local music scene had decided to
present her fans with a unique experience. A stage concert felicitating
two generations of musicians by Supriya, a vocalist belonging to the
third generation, will be held at the BMICH on June 20 at 6.30 p.m. This
will be the first time that a concert of this nature will take form on
the Sri Lankan stage.
The concert is titled Yugayaka Gee (A generation of songs). Supriya
hopes to felicitate her grandmother, popular vocalist of the 1930s,
Wasantha Sandanayake, her mother Daya Hemantha Abeysekara, her father,
actor Shanthi Abeysekara and her uncle vocalist Sarath Sandanayake.
Supriya who performs in English, Tamil and Hindi, will sing a variety
of songs backed by popular musical band Dinesh and Friends. Duets with
Kasun Kalhara and Amal Perera will also be a part of the concert.
Supriya's sisters Sadhana Ranathunge, Sanjana and Tajani Ishara
Abeysekara, her brothers Sanjay and Sundev and her husband Chalinda
Hewage will perform in Yugayaka Gee.
Chandana Wickramasinghe's dance troupe will present several
captivating dance items for the event which will be produced by Wasantha
Dantanarayana and R&V Entertainments. RJ |
