Ananda thrash Vidyartha 65-5

Ananda College, Colombo scored the biggest ever score in the encounter when they trounced Vidyartha College, Kandy by 65 points (six goals, four tries, 1 penalty) to 5 (one try) in the first leg of the 41st William Gopallawa Shield rugby encounter played at Longden Place yesterday. At half time Ananda College led 25-5.

Anandians put more thrust in their play and their aggression was too much for the Kandy school who crumbled especially in the second half when the Anandians ran amok to pile up a further 41 points.

Winger Ishan Samitha scored 3 tries for Ananda .

The other try scorers for Ananda were Isuru Ravinath, Thilina Nanayakkara , Daminda Lakmal, Kanishka Karunatillake, Nalin Pramika, S. Chathuranga, Eric Balasuriya, Charith Mapatuwa goalled 5 tries while the other try and the penalty were converted by Ushara Jayasundera. For Vidyartha N. Bandara scored an uncoverted try.
