‘Expectant Earth’

Nature’s beauty on canvas:

The diagrams were indeed a feast for the eyes and provoked food for thought as young artist Kosala Priyam Kumara’s exhibition of paintings ‘Expectant Earth’, is on the verge of being exhibited at the Thambapani restaurant and art gallery from June 15 to July 11. The preview of the

Kosala

exhibition was held on June 13 at 6 p.m.

Hailing from the lush hills of Kandy and born in 1976, Kosala, had completed his B.A. of Fine Arts (Sculpture) at the Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya. He had sat for his Masters in Drama and theatre in the same university before embarking on exhibiting his creations.

He had attended a number of group exhibitions as well as exhibited his work in several solo exhibitions starting from 1999. The last time he displayed his paintings was at a solo exhibition at the Thabapani gallery in 2007.

Kosala had clinched many awards for his talent as an artist. He had bagged the special prize in the all island art competition held by the Minister of Education in 1990. He had also won the gold medal in the all island art competition held in 1993 before going on to grab the David Paynter Award in the all island art competition in 1994.
