NGJA exhibits attract visitors in China
A record number of people visited the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery
Exhibition in Shanghai, China, held from May 13 - 16.
The visitors included both locals and foreigners, according to Sri
Lanka's National Gem and Jewellery Authority Chairman and CEO Hasitha
Tillekeratne.
A notable feature was the great demand for blue sapphires and
semi-precious stones that were among the exhibits.
There is a ready market for Sri Lankan gems and jewellery in China
and Russia - two countries which have successfully stabilized their
economies in the face of global economic recession.
Promotional campaigns for Sri Lankan products will be launched in the
two countries. In this connection Sri Lanka will participate in several
exhibitions to be held in China.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion at this year's Shanghai exhibition was the
first of its kind organized by the NGJA.
China's Embassy in Sri Lanka coordinated with the authority in making
the arrangements. |
