Plantation sector continues to gain

The Plantation Index gained a massive 12 percent on Rs 97 million while overall the market was up over 1 percent on interest in blue-chip companies.

The ASPI gained 32 points (+1.4 percent) to close at 2,286 while the more liquid MPI gained 33 points (+1.3 percent) to close at 2,558.

Turnover for yesterday was Rs 1.2 billion with large transactions in John Keells Holdings generating turnover of Rs 563 million in the JKH share alone.

JKH ended the day at Rs 119.50, gaining Rs 3.75. In the plantation sector, Bogawantalawa gained the most with a gain of Rs 5.5 (+28 percent) to end at Rs 25.00, while Elpitiya Plantations followed closely with and increase of Rs 13.25 (+25 percent) to close at Rs 66.25.

Kotagala Plantations gained Rs 4.25 (+15 percent) to close at Rs 32.50.
