Navy receive civilians at Point Pedro

Taking the civilians to a safer place

To many Sri Lankans, Point Pedro was a place that existed only in the imagination. For 30 long years, we could not visit it even if we wanted, if only to sit on the beach and perhaps to dip our feet in the water, to say we stood at the northernmost point of our country.

But the Army and the Navy were always there, protecting the country, and ever-ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

These pictures show the Navy receiving civilians who had reached Point Pedro after having fled LTTE clutches in the last phases of the Mullaitivu battle.
