Kandy tops dengue deaths

Kandy has recorded the highest number of dengue deaths which is over 22.

One thousand four hundred and fifty dengue patients have also been reported from Kandy, Central Provincial Health Services Director Dr. Shanthi Samarasinghe said. Dengue cases have been reported from Kandy town, Yatinuwara, Udunuwara, Akurana and Galagedera areas.

A series of awareness programs have been launched by a combined team consisting of officials from police, civil defence committees and health authorities. This has helped to combat the spread of this epidemic, the Health Director said.
