Food poisoning:

Nearly 500 hospitalized

Nearly 500 devotees including children who participated in the Ther festival held at Lilees Land Estate, Wedamulla, Ramboda were admitted to hospitals in Gampola, Pussellawa, Kotmale and Wahugupitiya following food poisoning.

It is reported that the devotees had vomited and fainted followed by loose motion after consuming the food.

Out of these patients, six who were critical have been admitted to Gampola hospital.

Health authorities took prompt action to ensure precautions and a large number have been discharged from hospitals by yesterday.
