SL Economic Summit 2009 takes on future prospects
The Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2009 will explore in depth the various
strategies available to address the challenges faced by Sri Lanka and to
make effective use of the new opportunities that would accelerate the
economic and social development of the country.
The Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2009, under the theme "Dawning of a new
Era - Opportunities and Challenges" will take place from June 30 to July
2 at the Cinnamon Grand, Colombo.
Eminent personalities from overseas with experience at senior
positions will join hands with senior Government officials, public
representatives and private sector leaders of Sri Lanka to discuss the
global economic environment and the emerging prospects for the country.
Day three of the technical sessions would start with 'Harnessing
Human Capital for the Future', where the keynote address would be by
Economist, ILO, Geneva Steven Kapsos. Panelists include Additional
Secretary (Employment), Ministry of Labour D.L. Kumaradasa, Director
General, Employers' Federation of Ceylon Ravi Peiris, Chief Executive
Officer, Brandix Lanka Ltd Ashroff Omar, Group Director, Capital
Maharaja Organisation Ltd Priantha Seresinhe and Managing Director,
Cornucopia (Pvt) Ltd. Dinesh Weerakkody. This session would be moderated
by Dr Harsha de Silva, Lead Economist, LIRNEasia.
The session would be followed by 'Building on ICT and English,
Presenting Sri Lanka as a Knowledge Economy' with the keynote address
given by CIO - Mobile Services, Chief - IT Operations and Governance,
Bharti Airtel Ltd., Amrita Gangotra. |
