Zahira College Maradan emerged champions in the under 19 Western Province Educational Zone football tournament held on June 10 and 11 at Henry Pedris Ground and Cooray Park.

Zahira beat De Mazanod College Kandana in a thrilling final which saw the final score 1-0. Abdul Khair scored the only goal in the 7th minute.

Zahira team is coached by T.S. Samath, reached the final after beating Hammid Al Husseini College on a tie breaker system 4-0 in the semi-finals and Maris Stella College Negombo on a tie breaker, 4-1 in the quarter finals. After winning the championship, Zahira qualified for the all Island tournament.
