Endowed Professor/Senior Fellow in Entrepreneurship:
NDB Bank pledges Rs. 9 m to Moratuwa varsity

NDB Bank has pledged nearly Rs.9 million to the University of
Moratuwa to sponsor Sri Lanka's first endowed Professor/Senior Fellow in
Entrepreneurship. NDB Bank believes an entrepreneurial culture is
essential for sustainable development of the country, said the Chief
Executive Officer of NDB Bank, Eran Wickramarathne after signing an MoU
at the Cinnamon Grand yesterday.
The endowed Professor/Senior Fellow in Entrepreneurship initiated by
the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa will encourage
the creation of an entrepreneurial culture in the country, said the Vice
Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, Malik Ranasinghe.
He said the University of Moratuwa which endorses the vision of
producing 'job creators' rather than 'job seekers', had taken the step
to produce highly employable graduates and job creators and
simultaneously a technology that can meet the requirement of the
industrial sector.
The other objective of NDB Bank endowed Professor/ Senior Fellow in
Entrepreneurship is to lay the foundation of an entrepreneurial culture
in Sri Lanka.
The CEO of NDB Bank said that Sri Lanka has the potential to develop
the environment to start new enterprises since Sri Lanka has been
enlisted as 102 among 180 countries in the rank of the countries eased
of doing business in the world. NDB Bank endeavours to reflect the
brands with the identity of world-class Sri Lankans while accomplishing
their social responsibility.
Therefore, NDB Bank together with the University of Moratuwa will
produce world- class Sri Lankan addressing today's needs.
The Professor/Senior Fellow who will be set on a three-year contract
appointment will be selected according to the criteria of the University
Grants Commission (UGC) and the University of Moratuwa. He/she will be
assessed on a quarterly basis to ensure that he/she meets the
requirements of the University and NDB Bank. |
