Army building road in Mullaitivu

As the war fast approached its finish, civilians trapped by the LTTE began to pour out. Many of them, in order to reach Government lines, had to cross Nanthikandal lagoon in hip-deep water. In the pictures here, the Army is building a road across a narrow stretch of the lagoon,
to facilitate civilian movement.
