Leave for TNA MPs approved
The House approved three months leave to three TNA MPs considering
their medical certificates yesterday.
Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara at the outset informed that three TNA
MPs whose leave application motions were rejected, had submitted medical
reports.
The Speaker said when he contacted the three TNA MPs, Selvam
Adaikalanathan (Vanni district), Selvarajah Kajendran (Jaffna district)
and S. Jeyanandamoorthy (Batticaloa district) said they were not well to
attend parliamentary sessions.
"Therefore, they promised to submit medical reports, which I have
received today." TNA Jaffna district MP P. Sithamparanathan whose leave
application was rejected, was present in Parliament yesterday.
Government MPs did not agree to further extend leave to the three TNA
MPs with Jaffna district TNA MP P. Sithamparanathan on Tuesday.
Government members were of the view that these TNA MPs have misused
their parliamentary privileges and engaged in various
anti-constitutional activities. The Speaker promised on Tuesday to make
an inquiry and to inform its outcome to the House on Friday. UK and IR |
