Landownership permits for plantation community

The time has come for the plantation sector to come out of the mind set as caged in estates, Plantation Industries Minister D.M. Jayaratne said.


Minister D.M. Jayaratne presents a landownership permit to a family member of the plantation community in Mulgama, Gampola.

Addressing a ceremony to distribute land ownership permits among 500 people of the plantation community in Mulgama in the Gampola area, he added that there are no borders for any community in the country.

Commenting on the project formulated for integration of villages in the plantation sector, the Minister said it was a vital role for the development of inter-communal relationship and harmony.

He said the project will also provide infrastructure facilities the area needs.

The people of plantation sector were the backbone of the country's economy, the Minister stressed. Minister Jayaratne also assured to give land ownership permit to all individuals in the plantation sector close to their native places.
