Remove corrupt and partisan UN officials

Navaneethan Pillai the United Nations Human Rights Chief happens to be a diehard LTTE sympathizer, though of South African origin. Prior to her present stance she had expressed the view that the Tamils of Sri Lanka should have a separate state, and it will be V. Prabhakaran who will create that separate state.

With the colossal amount of weapons in the Tiger arsenal - ships, aircraft and high calibre weapons, they thought they could carve out a separate state in India, by force of arms. That was the plan of Vaiko, Nedumaran et al. this was why the politicians of Tamil Nadu loved Prabhakaran.

The average Indian Tamil saw through this facade. The rest of India together with Congress politicians were astute enough to intelligently size up the situation and flatly refused to intervene to save Prabhakaran, who was also wanted in India for the killing of the charismatic Rajiv Gandhi. The average Tamil Nadu voter who was not one bit interested in Prabhakaran or the LTTE, gave a fitting reply to the cunning and corrupt politicians.

To let Navi Pillai the completely communal minded, partisan official remain as UN Human Rights chief, is a dangerous trend and does not augur well for the UN.

She got the Western Powers to sponsor a resolution to have Sri Lanka and the LTTE charged for human rights violations. What a parile statement for Navi Pillai to make, when she knows there is no LTTE now. So how can one bring the LTTE before a War Crimes Tribunal. If she is so unintelligent, this is another reason to have her removed as UNHR Chief.

If there was a semblance of impartiality in her conduct, why did she not move the UNHRC to have Prabhakaran and the LTTE charged for human rights violations, before the LTTE was wiped out. Prabhakaran ordered all civilians to form a human shield and to encircle his hideouts at the risk of their lives; to be canon fodder, to protect himself, his family, his body guards and other LTTE cadres.

Did Navi Pillai initiate a resolution to have Prabhakaran, Pottu Amman, Soosai et al charged for human rights violation. Did Navi Pillai initiate proceedings to have Prabhakaran charged for forcibly conscripting children as young as 10 years. Navi Pillai stands exposed right royally before the UN. She should be stripped of her title.

It is tabulated that Prabhakaran has caused the murders of 14,000 Tamils and Tamil politicians. Did Navi Pillai initiate proceedings for these crimes? Prabhakaran had Rajiv Gandhi murdered in cold blood. Did Navi Pillai lift a finger?

Prabhakaran had Amirthalingam, Sivasithamparam, and Neelan Tiruchelvam killed. These are people who nurtured them, financed them and helped them to receive training in South India. Did Navi Pillai utter a word against Prabhakaran or his band of rowdies.

Unintelligent Tamil youth were conscripted by Prabhakaran to be his suicide cadres. He had a knack for picking unintelligent Tamils, bluff them that it is a great honour to have the last meal with him, before launching out on their suicidal missions.

Why are Tamils so foolish as to think that he is their saviour and the Sun God.

Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, China, Russia and other countries who genuinely feel that a sovereign nation has the right to use as much force as is necessary to protect its country from a band of rowdies and thugs and terrorists who hold a whole population to ransom, must bring a motion before the UN, to have completely partial and corrupt officials of the UN removed from their positions.

There is not a semblance of impartiality in Navi Pillai’s conduct regarding the Sri Lankan Tigers. She has not uttered one word in praise of the Sri Lankan Forces for the humanitarian task of saving the lives of almost 200,000 innocent Tamil IDPs, but instead, taking up cudgels to protect a band of terrorists.

We must examine the possibility of having Navi Pillai charged under the provision of Article 2 of “International Convention for Suppression of Terrorism of 1999,” which states:

“Any person commits an offence within the meaning of this convention if that person by any means, directly or indirectly, unlawfully and willfully does para (b) any act intended to cause death or serious bodily injury to a civilian, or to any other person not taking an active part in the hostilities in a situation of armed conflict, when the purpose of such act, by its nature or context, is to intimidate a population, or to compel a government or an international organisation to do or abstain from doing any act.”

According to a recent article published in New York under the caption Cheques, Chocolate and Wrist watches: vote buyer at UN Elections:- “In most of the hard fought elections for high-ranking jobs in inter-governmental organisations, the highly and most competent candidates do not necessarily win.

The elections at the UN are usually tainted by politics, bribery, cheque book, diplomacy and subtle donor threats to cut off donor aid. At one of the elctions, there were rumours that an oil-soaked Middle Eastern country was doling out gold wrist watches and dollars to UN diplomats as a trade-off for their votes for an Arab candidate.

So when the hands went up at voting time most number of hands raised in favour of the oil-blessed candidate, all sported gold watches.

The LTTE has been bribing in the millions - politicians of Western countries to save Prabhakaran and the LTTE.

Navi Pillai is no exception.
