Lanka ORIX Securities with a new vision

Lanka ORIX Securities (Pvt) Ltd, would be soon having new Directors and Shareholders comprising those who have collectively executed majority of the strategic transactions in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE).

The new change in the company was a result of the need for greater expansion of the company globally. The new directors and shareholders would bring in greater synergy to the company with their vast global Capital Market experience and networks.

The company currently serves most of the high net worth individuals and has probably the largest retail client base through its branches in Kandy, Matara, Negombo, Kurunegala and Kalutara. The company is currently focusing on strengthening its foreign client base.

Moksevi Prelis is the proposed Chairman of the company. Prelis has 21 years of experience as the CEO/Director of the DFCC Bank and the Nations Trust Bank. He was also the Chairman of Ceylon Electricity Board and Small and Medium Enterprise Bank and Chairman, Association of Development Finance Institutions of Asia and Pacific in Manila and currently he is a Director at Dialog Telecom PLC.

Raj Rajaratnam, founder and President of the Galleon Group, a New York, will purchase a 20 percent stake in the company. Galleon Group at present has approximately $7 billion under its management. Rajaratnam currently holds over 8 percent of JKH while Galleon Group has large stakes in DFCC, NDB, Commercial Bank and in many other companies.

Rusi Sohli Captain, who would be purchasing a 20 percent stake, would bring a wealth of knowledge of over 20 years in the capital markets. He was the co-founder and a Director of Asia Stock Brokers, Asia Capital and Asian Alliance Insurance.

He is also a former Director of John Keells Holdings where his family is the largest shareholder and at present serves on the Board of Chemical Industries (Colombo) PLC.

Tushan Wickramasinghe, Managing Director/CEO of the ORIX Securities would increase his stake in the company from 30 percent to 50 percent. Wickramasinghe was responsible for arranging many of the strategic transactions in the Colombo Stock Exchange and serves on the Board of Lanka Orix Leasing Company.

Priyani Ratnagopal, a former Director of Asia Capital PLC and former Director/CEO of Asia Securities with stock broking experience at WI Carr Indosuez in Hong Kong would be an Executive Director and 10 percent shareholder.

Sarath Rajapakse, an expert in Technical Analysis would also join the Board. Rajapakse who brings over 30 years of experience in capital Markets was the President - GMI Finance and Investment Co. Ltd, Hong Kong and the CEO/Director at Skills Lanka Ltd.
