'Dengue raid' begins today

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry, Department of Police and Civil Security Committees are organizing the three-day campaign to destroy mosquito breeding places in Colombo, Kandy, Kegalle, Gampaha and Kalutara. Under this campaign, Health Ministry launched a dengue awareness campaign yesterday while it also launched a shramadana campaign.

The main shramadana campaign to eradicate dengue was held at the Police Quarters in Maradana.

A dengue prevention program will be launched today to nab mosquito breeders.

"We will take legal action against persons who are responsible for mosquito breeding places. Under the Mosquito Breeding Control Act, I have instructed officers to take a legal action against the offenders," Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said.
