Investment interest escalating with BizPAct Confab
Local and foreign investors are demonstrating increasing confidence
and enthusiasm in investing in the peripheral regions of Sri Lanka,
taking advantage of the post war opportunities for rebuilding the
nation.
The 'BizPAct Invest in Sri Lanka symposium', the first major post-war
initiative to attract national and international investments to the
peripheral regions of Sri Lanka. The symposium is convened by The
Business for Peace Alliance (BPA), Sri Lanka's network of regional
business chambers.
'BizPAct' seeks to build a unique platform linking big business based
in Colombo, international investors and Sri Lankan investors domiciled
overseas, together with the small and medium scale businesses and
entrepreneurs in the regions throughout Sri Lanka
Supported by the Government agencies and big business chambers, the
BizPact investment program will take place in Colombo on June 25 and 29,
coupled with facility visits to the regions on from June 26-28.
BizPAct is planned to be a highly interactive and participatory
program. Colombo based business representatives, Sri Lankans domiciled
overseas and foreign investors will get an opportunity to confer with
high level policy makers, Government officials and leading members of
the regional business community, representing all the regional chambers
of Commerce throughout Sri Lanka and obtain insights on the
opportunities and challenges in investing in the regions in the post war
scenario.
The high level policy makers who are billed to participate in the
event are Minister of Public Administration and Internal Affairs, Dr.
Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment
Promotion, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Minister of Industrial Development,
Kumara Welgama, Minister of Enterprise Development, Mano Wijeyratna,
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Faizer Musthapa, Secretary, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Dr. Palitha Kohona, and Secretary General, Secretariat
for Coordinating the Peace Process and Secretary, Ministry of Disaster
Management and Human Rights, Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Board of Investment, Sri Lanka
Tourism Development Authority, Secretariat for Co-ordinating the Peace
Process, National Chamber of Exporters, American Chamber of Commerce,
the European Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka, International Alert and
Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka are partnering BPA in this Conference. |
