‘Working together is success’:

Human networking will boost business - HR consultant

Human networking in reconciliation is the way for Sri Lanka to hold the banner of “Ready for Business” in a short period of time,” HR Consultant, Bangalore, India S. Ramesh told Daily News Business on Wednesday.

S. Ramesh

Ramesh is in Sri Lanka on the invitation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) to conduct two seminars on “Power of Human Networks” and “Coaching for Managers” for junior, middle and senior level managers in Sri Lankan companies in Colombo.

He commended the participants at the seminar and added that they had the right attitude to develop Sri Lanka. human networking can make a tremendous change in companies as well as in societies for the betterment of the country. Sri Lanka had been a flourishing country in the past with highly talented people and with the end of the war it can flourish again.

“Even I am prepared to establish a business development centre with Sri Lankan IT engineers,” he said.

Ramesh described three levels of human networking as I, WE and US which applies to any group within a company, country or society.” One cannot reconcile another if he or she is not comfortable within them.

The person who reaches out must have peace of mind, he said. The second level of human networking is “WE “where there are certain common things among members in the group and they establish common goals and work to achieve them at the third level (US) which is the highest. Working together is success provided they recognize each one’s strengths.

The aggregate of such strengths is not additive, but exponential when put together.

Working at cross purposes leads to diffusion of efforts, energies and resources, he said. On the topic of reconciliation as a society, he said it is necessary to identify leaders and establish a good rapport. This can be done through temples, churches and industries.

Referring to the human problem in South Africa, he said that President Nelson Mandela well understood this concept and overcame the problem.

People in the south should go to the north and east and shake hands and say that they are ready to do business.

By having a continuous communication process the highest level of networking can be achieved. The responsibility is in the south, he said.

The celebrations should be minimized because Sri Lanka has missed a lot during the war and it has to walk very fast to keep pace with the rest of the world, he said.
