CJ to open Courts complex
The Nawalapitiya Courts Complex built at a cost of Rs. 240 million
will be opened by Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva on May 31 at 10 a.m.
Acting Justice and Law Reforms Minister V. Puthirasigamoney and Power
Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage will also participate.
Later in the day, the Chief Justice will also open the new Nuwara
Eliya High Court and Labour Tribunal Complex built at a cost of Rs. 200
million at 2 p.m.
Closing ceremony
The closing ceremony of the English Teacher Training program
conducted by the Education Ministry with the assistance of the
Presidential initiative for English and IT co-ordinated by SCOPP and
supported by the US Embassy will be held at the Sovereign Hotel, 100 C,
Rajagiriya on May 29 at 7.30 p.m. TULF leader V. Anandasangaree will be
the chief guest. A final batch of 30 English teachers from Jaffna,
Batticaloa, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa who have completed their
training will receive their certificates at this ceremony.
Work on road rehabilitation
Kandy District Secretary Gotabhaya Jayaratne will inaugurate
rehabilitation work on the Udagaladebokka road in Minipe at a ceremony
today at 10 a.m.
Rs. 1.5 million has been allocated for this project.

The Kalutara Branch of the Old Nalandians has made arrangements to
collect particulars of Old Boys in the district.

0773755923. A special meeting will be held on May 30 at 6 p.m. in Horana.
Get-together
The annual get together of the Old Boys' Association of Veluwana
Vidyalaya, Colombo will be held at Kelaniweli Resort, Kaduwela on May 30
at 6 p.m.
Charter ceremony
The IPM Toastmasters (TMS) Charter Ceremony with Pat Johnson of
Toastmasters International will be held today from 7 p.m. at the HR
House in Polhengoda. IPM Sri Lanka as part of its Professional
Development Initiative is focusing on Communication and Leadership
Development for their members and students.
Health camp
The annual health camp organised by third year medical students of
the 29th batch and Medical Faculty Student's Union of Ruhuna University
will be held at Lunugamvehera Maha Vidyalaya, Tissamaharama on May 31.
Drug dealer nabbed with heroin haul
A suspect was arrested along with heroin valued at over Rs.10 million
yesterday morning in Kimbul-Ela, Modera, Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith
Gunasekera said.
He said the drug dealer known as E.A Mahesh alias Rangala was nabbed
in Kimbul-Ela around 10.15 a.m. Police are on the look out to arrest the
main drug supplier to Rangala. RJ
