'President's leadership brings victory to Lanka at UNHRC'
Sri Lanka has been able to muster the support of two thirds of the UN
Human Rights Council member nations due to the true, genuine and
far-sighted leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said Agricultural
Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena.

He was addressing a progress review meeting of agricultural
activities in the Kundasale electorate held at the Kundasale Divisional
Secretariat on May 27.
Sirisena said Sri Lanka's history dated back to more than 2,500 years
when some of the countries frowning and shouting at it were non-
existent. Most of the countries who had ganged up against Sri Lanka had
a history of about 300 or 400 years only.
Sirisena said the coming together of neighbouring Asian and African
countries including India, Pakistan and China to support Sri Lanka was a
world class achievement similar to the victory over terrorism. We must
now try to make use of this vast international goodwill and support for
the development of the country.
President Rajapaksa had been able to unite the people under a single
banner to defeat LTTE terrorism and this was another major victory
achieved by the Government.
Minister Sirisena and other Ministers gave instant solutions to many
problems forwarded by the public in the area during the meeting.
