Car dealer in Customs custody

Customs Intelligence Unit took into custody a motor spares dealer from Kurunegala who attempted to smuggle into the country four luxury motor cars under the guise of importing spare parts. The luxury cars included two Allions (Toyota), one Nissan and one Carina all worth over seventeen million rupees.

Customs seized the vehicles on a tip off received from the public to their 24-hour information service.

These vehicles were cleverly concealed among bicycles and motor spare parts in a 40-foot container, Customs sources said.

This contraband is to be confiscated and further investigators are conducted under the supervision of Deputy Director L.M. Nelson of the Unit.
