Navy foils LTTE attempts to breach defences:

17 LTTE boats destroyed, over hundred cadres killed

17 LTTE boats were destroyed including several suicide boats and over 100 sea Tiger cadres were killed in the seas off Mullaitivu by naval troops during the last few weeks, said Navy spokesman Commander Mahesh Karunaratne.

Troops consolidating near Waddawakal causeway

Security Forces poised to rescue the remaining trapped civilians, entered the currently demarcated No Fire Zone (NFZ) yesterday morning while troops of the 59 division which had advanced 300m are now consolidating their position around the Waddawakal causeway.
