Lankan drug dealer nabbed in India

A Sri Lankan drug trafficker arrested in India by the Indian Police
and handed over to the Sri Lanka Police was produced before Panadura
Provincial High Court Judge Malanee Gunaratne and remanded on Monday.
The suspect Chintamani Mohottibe Thushara alias Kudu Thushara had
gone to India after escaping from the custody of Kuruwita Prison
officials while being taken to the Avissawella High Court to be produced
in a heroin case.
In India, he had been posing as a Tamil refugee when Chennai Police
arrested him on suspicion.
The accused is indicted for being in processing heroin weighing 84.3
grams and 52.47 grams in two cases.
The Judge held an inquiry summoning the superintendent of prisons in
Kalutara and Kuruwita to find out how the accused escaped from prison
custody. It was revealed that he fled while being taken to the
Avissawella High Court to be produced in another drug trafficking case.
