CEB staff donate day's salary

The Ceylon Electricity Board employees donated one day's salary to purchase consumables worth of Rs. 15 million for the displaced people in the North, a Power and Energy Ministry official said.

The official said that Power and Energy Minister W.D.J. Senevirathne would hand over the consumables to the Relief Services office at the BMICH today.

The items include biscuits, milk packets, bottles of water, packets of infent milk powder, chocolates, clothing for children and ladies, etc, the official said.

These items would be distributed among around 10,000 displaced people in Vavuniya, he added.
