Key witness in Bolivia terrorist plot
BOLIVIA: Juan Carlos Gueder, one of the men arrested on April 16 in
Bolivia for his connection with a terrorist gang plotting to kill
President Evo Morales has named Ignacio Villa Paz as a key witness for
the Public Prosecution.
The Justice Ministry says Villa Paz, a.k.a. "El Viejo" will take the
stand on Monday at a hearing on the groupA's plot foiled at Las Americas
Hotel in Santa Cruz. Defense Attorney Denver Pedraza said that Ignacio
Villa Paz, born in Cotoca, Santa Cruz, was chief of operations for gang
leader, a Bolivian-born Hungarian who has been identified as Eduardo
Rozsa.
The daily says El Viejo was in charge of recruiting the members of
the group whose main goal was perpetrating terrorist acts and
assassinating President Evo Morales and other national and regional
officials.
The April 16 police raid at Las Americas Hotel left three men dead,
including Rozsa.
Michael Dwyer was a 24-year-old Irish security guard, while Arpad
Magyarosi, 29, was a Hungarian. Another two men with ties to Croatia and
Hungary were arrested in rooms down the hall.
