German soccer clubs to tour Lanka
Men's and Women's soccer teams from clubs in leading cities in
Germany will tour Sri Lanka in December this year.
Thirty Men's soccer clubs from Munich, Bremen, Dortmund, Hamburg,
Cologne, Stuttgart, Bonn, Magdeburg, Leipzig and Berlin will visit Sri
Lanka and will play four matches each against Sri Lankan clubs during
their two-week tour. Marc Tholorowsky, a soccer coach from Berlin who is
currently based in Sri Lanka is the co-ordinator of the tour and is
confident that the clubs will gain the much needed foreign exposure
during their tour of Sri Lanka.
Twenty women's soccer club teams from Berlin, Stuttgart, Bremen,
Munich, Dortmund, Hamburg, Liepzig and Magdeburg will also tour Sri
Lanka in December this year.
During their stay they will also play four matches each against
leading women's soccer teams from Colombo, Kandy, Negombo and Wennappuwa.
Birgit Rix who is based here is the co-ordinator for the women's
tour. The tours are being arranged by the Asian-German Sports Exchange
Program with the aim of bringing about friendship and understanding
between the soccer players of the two countries and will also arrange
sightseeing tours for the touring teams during their two weeks stay in
the country.
