Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy won the girls schools championship
collecting 353 points and Trinity College, Kandy won the boys schools
team championship collecting 379 points at the Circuit Meet concluded at
the Bogambara grounds conducted by the Department of Education, Kandy,
recently.
The following schools got the first 3 places in girls and boys
schools respectively. Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy - 353 points,
Pushpadana Balika, Kandy - 228 points, Sri Rahula National School,
Katugastota - 207 points.
Trinity College, Kandy - 379 points, Dharmaraja College, Kandy - 193
points, Vidyartha College, Kandy - 160 points.
The following were champion athletes in the relevant age groups:
Under-11 boys: F. Weerasuriya (Trinity College). Under-11 girls:
Methma Athauda (Mahamaya).
Under-13 boys: I. Wijeratne (St. Sylvesters). Under-13 girls: Jayani
Kumudumali (St. Anthony’s Girls).
Under-15 boys: Jagath Buddhika (Ranabima Royal, Gannoruwa). Under-15
girls: Buddhika Samarasinghe (Mahamaya).
Under-17 boys: M. Hewawasam (Dharmaraja). Under-17 Girls: K.
Kularatne, Praba Warnasuriya (High School and Rahula National School).
Under-19 boys: R. Abraham (St. Anthony’s). Under-19 girls: K.
Samanthi Jayasinghe, Durangi Dassanayake (Rahula National School and
CIS, Kandy).
Under-21 boys: P. G. Bultjens (Vidyartha). Under-21 girls: Wathsala
Wijesinghe, T. Wattegedara (Hemamali and Mahamaya).
The chief guest was Sarath Ekanayake, the Chief Minister of Central
