Five year plan to develop three districts

A five year plan to invest Rs. 994 million in 1,052 projects in
Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha districts has got underway.
A Western Provincial Local Government Department official told the
Daily News the projects will be launched in 48 Local Authority
Institutes through the Assistant Local Government Commissioner’s offices
of the three districts.
The projects are specially targeted for the development of human
resources management, solid waste management, revenue collection,
rehabilitation activities of small scale bridges in low income local
authorities, road system and information technology services of the
local bodies. The Western Province is a densely populated province with
a population of 5,622,274 in an area of 3684 square miles. |
