Two children among six victims

Six dengue patients have died in the Kurunegala district so far according to latest records. Among them were two schoolchildren.

The latest death of an adult male was recorded from the Mallawapitiya hospital. He along with his wife was admitted to the hospital Intensive Care Unit on Monday on suspicion of contacting dengue fever.

Another four patients are also undergoing treatment at the hospital for dengue, hospital sources told the Daily News.

Medical teams were kept on alert while volunteers visited homes to identify dengue breeding places and induce householders to clean them.

Hospital sources said there were 12 cases of dengue recorded in the Kurunegala District.
