Message of condolence on the death of Dr. Tissa Abeysekera

Presidential Award Winning Artiste Dr. Tissa Abeysekera always represented the socialist sector. This outstanding artiste displayed his talents in all fields of activities both nationally and internationally. He also carved a niche for himself in the history of Sinhala cinema in the country, states Minister of Information and Media Anura Priyadarshana Yapa in a condolence message.

He was not only a film director but an actor, lyricist and also a film critic par excellence. These multi-faceted talents of his were amply portrayed in classic films such as Karumakkaroya, Viragaya, Mahagedera, Welikathara, Kaludiyadahara, Weerapuranappu, Uthpalawanna, Kulageya and Gurugedara.

As one time Chairman of the state film cooperation, he did a yeoman service to the cinema industry. As the director of Rupawahini Corporation, he was also instrumental in producing quality artistes and journalists. May he attain Nibbana
