Appeal for assistance

Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development Minister A.H.M. Fowzie has made an appeal to the public to come forward to provide relief material in food items, clothing, essential utensils as well as medicine. "The country witnessed the massive escape by the people from the cruel hold of terrorists, which was made possible due to the huge humanitarian and liberation action by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

"It is the duty of all of us to send relief aid and ease their sufferings in whatever way possible", Minister Fowzie said.

Minister Fowzie has made arrangements to receive such materials at his residence at No. 409, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 07 (Telephone No. 2699617/2698630) and to transport them immediately to reach the war victims in the North.

All those willing to contribute their share could do so throughout the day.
