'Muslims should support President'

Businessman and former UNP stalwart M. Zurfick yesterday said the Muslims should extend their fullest support to the President who is dedicated to eradicate terrorism and usher prosperity to the county.

He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa is a friend of Muslims. He was the founder President of the Sri Lanka Committee for Solidarity with Palestine. He stood up for the cause of Palastinians who were denied their basic rights by the Zionist forces.

"It was the Rajapaksa's clan that saved Muslims in the Hambantota district in times of turmoil. The Muslims all over the country should hail President for his untiring effort to carve out a nation where people of all communities could live in peace and harmony.

The Muslim community in the Colombo district have now realised that no other Government launched such massive programs to uplift the Muslims in the country.

The Government through the various agencies and organisations have launched a number of programs to uplift the Muslims.
