Green light for Rs. 343m luxury hotel

The Board of Investment (BOI) has approved the construction of a new luxury hotel worth Rs. 343 million in Kandy under the 300 Sri Lankan Companies Project.

This project will be implemented by Canora Hotels (Pvt) Ltd. A 260 perch land where the Odeon Theatre stood earlier has been selected for the project. Work will commence this year and the hotel is scheduled to be opened in 2012.

The hotel will comprise 75 luxury rooms and this will facilitate the tourists and visitors coming to Kandy during the Esala perehera, various sports and other activities.

The hotel will provide employment opportunities for 200 people in the area.
