Mob attack on Weerawansa's motorcade injures three

Three persons sustained injuries after the motorcade escorting
National Freedom Front Leader and Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa came
under a mob attack at Homagama. The injured who are attached to NFF
leader Weerawansa's security detail were admitted to the Homagama Base
Hospital with minor injuries.
According to Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera, the Homagama
Police on a complaint made by the NFF leader have initiated
comprehensive investigation into this incident.
Weerawansa together with Parliamentarian Achala Jagoda were heading
for an election meeting at Homagama when his motorcade came under attack
at Homagama.
However, the JVP in a complaint to the Homagama Police yesterday said
their supporters were also assaulted by UPFA supporters who came in a
vehicle which had no number plate. |
