Every effort will be taken to bring to book those responsible for the
attack on Sri Lankan Embassy in Norway. The security of Sri Lankans in
Norway too will be ensured. These measures will be taken with
consultation of the Norwegian Government, said Sri Lankan Ambassador to
Norway Rodney Perera.
The Ambassador to Norway made these assurances when he paid a
courtesy call on the Chief Prelates of Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters in
Kandy yesterday.
“I will take every effort to enlighten the Norwegian Government on
the sincere efforts taken by the Sri Lankan Government to bring about
peace in the country.
Also it is one of my prime responsibilities to dispel the
misconceptions Norway has towards Sri Lanka,” Ambassador Perera said.
“The attack on the Sri Lankan Embassy in Norway is not a trivial matter.
This could lead to deterioration of the good relations Norway has built
so far. Therefore Norway should take this matter seriously,” he said.
“Thirty years ago, the LTTE began with small things like destruction
of State properties in Sri Lanka and have developed to the present
level. Likewise, the attack on Sri Lankan Mission is a matter for
concern,” the Ambassador said. |
