Two schoolboys in athletic team to Thailand

Two schoolboys Peterite sprinter Ranil Jayawardena and Royalist
Discus Thrower Charitha Kapukotuwa have been selected along with six
other promising athletes to represent Sri Lanka at the Thailand Open
Athletic Championships which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from
April 26 to 29, 2009.
The National Selection Committee of the Amateur Athletic Association
of Sri Lanka comprising Dunstan Fernando (Chairman), K.P. Sahabandu and
G.G.U. Saman Kumara selected the eight member team for the Thailand Open
Athletic Championships.
The team will leave the island on April 24 morning, Chairman of the
National Athletics Selection Committee Dunstan Fernando told the ‘Daily
News’.
Men: Ashan Hasaranga (Track Master) 100m and 200m Ranil Jayawardena
(St. Peter’s) 100 metres 200 metres R.M.S.G. Rathnayake (Army) 400
metres Nayana Prasad Dharmarathne (Army) long jump Charitha Kapukotuwa
(Royal) Discus Throw D.D.N. Nishantha (Army) 800 metres.
Women: (R.M. Chandrika Subashini (Track Master) 400 metres, N.A.
Dilrukshi (Army) 800 metres (Nimal Dharmarathne has been approved as the
manager of the team. |
